Children and Youth Services

Lawyers Alliance helps to educate and nurture at-risk children of all ages, from infants in child care to teenagers in after-school and summer programs.

Clients include child care centers, family child care networks, Head Start programs, charter schools, public school support organizations, in-school and after-school programs, mentoring and tutoring programs, youth development and job training organizations, and education reform groups.

Pajama Program provides nurturing books and new sleepwear to needy children, many of whom are living in group homes or shelters. Volunteer chapter presidents and other volunteers staff 79 chapters nationwide. Lawyers Alliance pro bono attorneys from Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP worked with Pajama Program to create a comprehensive volunteer manual with specific responsibilities and expectations for volunteers at all levels. The new manual and volunteer procedures improved quality control in program delivery, enhanced communication among the national volunteer base, and is in use today by more than 500 volunteers.

“Working with Lawyers Alliance and our pro bono attorney could not have been a better experience. She was efficient, timely and understood our needs completely. We could not have undertaken this project without her expertise, yet she was able to convey important legal information to our volunteers in an understandable manner.”
